Structure:

Every tense or every structure has Structure because Structure is very important for making a sentence with the help of Structure you can make a correct sentence. In this Structure the first one is (SUBJECT) (Subject the action performer the person or people who performs the action) And The second one is (VERB) (Verb is an Action that work which shows Action) but in past indefinite we use Verb's 2nd form because When we talk about past so it is the rule of English language that in past indefinite we have to put 2nd form of verb. And the 3rd one is (OBJECT) (Object is that the one that is being worked on).

Subject + Verb (2nd Form) + Object.                        (Positive)

Subject + Did + not + Verb (1st form) + Object.     (Negative)

Did + Subject + Verb (1st) + Object?                    (Interrogative)

Did:

Did is the helping verb of past indefinite It will be helpful for you to make Negative and Interrogative. When you make positive sentence you will use 2nd (Modified) form of verb. But when you make Negative you will use Did after subject and in Negative it is obvious that you will put not after did because it is negative. And in negative sentence when you put did not so after this you will put verb's (1st) form because only one modified form is allowed to put in a sentence so did so already modified form of do. That's why you can not put any modified form after did.

Important Note about Structure:

In this structure you can see in positive Structure we use (Verb) (2nd form) but in Negative Structure we use (verb) (1st form) Why? Because in Negative structure Startled we have used the word (did) and (did) is already second form of do so when we make positive sentence so we use 2nd form of verb and when we make Negative sentence so After (Did) we put (First form of verb) because in a sentence we are allowed to put only one  (2nd)(modified) form of verb we can not put 2 modified forms in a sentence. That's why after did we puts 1st from of verb. And Did is the helping verb it helps you to make Negative sentence of Past Indefinite.
